Jacksonville’s Stage Aurora Theatrical Co. Inc. will once again present a holiday tradition of Black Nativity. This memorial musical by American legend Langston Hughes puts a spin on an all-new variation of the holiday show that has sold out houses all across the country.

Black Nativity is one of Langston Hughes’ most recognizable works. Billed as a gospel song-play, it was first performed on Broadway December 11, 1961, and was one of the first plays written by an African American to have such widespread exposure. It has since become a tradition in cities nationwide, having been performed at some of the top theatre companies including Freedom Theatre (Philadelphia, Pa.), Penumbra Theatre (St. Paul, Minn.) and Karamu House (Cleveland, Ohio).

Founder and Executive Director of Stage Aurora Theatrical Co. Inc., Darryl Reuben Hall has invited Noble Lee Lester to serve as director and La’Farrah Davis as Choreographer.
